KILL THE LIGHTS: Jay, Moose, James, Jeremy

Just like the GODDAMN UNBEARABLE HEAT that we're facing as I write this review (honest to God, it feels like someone left the oven door open in the pits of Heckery whilst turning the radiators up to maximum...there is sweat in places that should be illegal...), the music scene has been heating up big time the last couple of weeks...well...months. There has been banger after absolute banger being dropped that its almost getting difficult to keep on top of it all!

One such band that has dropped an absolute fireball of a banger are metalcore giants KILL THE LIGHTS, who have released 'Panic Blooms', the follow up to previous single 'Iron Bite'. Now I won't hesitate to say that since the band's formation, they are one of those bands that not only deliver each and every time they drop some music, but they're also one of those bands that improve more and more each and every time. 'Panic Blooms' is no different to this, and honestly its a track that has been stuck in my head and on loop in my regular playlist since its release.

You want melodies? No problem. You want heavy vocals and equally heavy instrumentals? You got it. You want a track that just shows how the band continuously manage to push themselves and progress whilst still maintaining the core element that made them appealing in the first place? Sorted!

Everything about this track just hits in all the right places, with the perfect balance in every element being present. Moose's drumming is as tight and powerful as ever, the combination of Jay's screams and James' clean vocals compliment each other flawlessly, and the string work of both Jeremy and Jay are the icing on top. The overall production of this track really highlights everything in its own light, blending the different elements perfectly so that you can get a hint at everything going on without anything sounding muddy or over-polished. The power and heavier builds in the verse flows smoothly into the melodic punch of the chorus. The song induces literal goosebumps as it plays out, and invokes the desire to headbang and mosh in your front room as you play it again and again.

KILL THE LIGHTS are proving time and time again why they continue to grow and dominant the scene, whether its from their busy touring schedule (heads up US fans, the quartet are hitting your shores near the end of this year!) or from dropping masterpiece after masterpiece musically. One thing that you can't ignore is the solidity and solidarity of the band and their members as they continue setting themselves up to be one of the biggest bands in the current climate.
