It’s always fun when a new band arrives on the scene, and you have no clue about them. Who they are, how they formed, what inspired them…that certainly seems to be the case with those masked bandits in PRESIDENT

…Ok look, we all have our suspicions and theories that this is Charlie Simpson’s new band but at the time of writing this, it was a Monday morning and I wasn’t awake enough to go through all the conspiracy theories, so let’s visit that rabbit hole another time.

The band has certainly made a name for themselves after a surprise appearance at Download Festival earlier this year, especially considering there was next to nothing about them online prior to this. But after the appearance, they seemed to have won over the fans in their own way, whether it be the mystery that surrounds the band or the impact of the music they presented to the fans worldwide. Now, we get a full taste of what they’re really about with their latest EP King of Terrors.

The 20-minute offering of Alternative Metal is packed with an experimental blend of heavy guitars, harmonic vocals and the splashing of synth filled tunes. For me, this EP was oddly hypnotic. I can’t really explain it…but there was something about the 6 tracks that just drew me in. It was music I’ve heard plenty of times before, and elements of writing that have been done countless times by other bands. But still, I found the music being presented had an eerie beauty to it. It was almost therapeutic in its own way.

You find yourself hooked from start to finish, delving deeper into the messages and journey that PRESIDENT presents to us. Even when you hit the end of the EP, the tracks will ring in your ears and mind for what feels like an eternity. The two standouts for me were ‘Fearless’ and ‘Destroy Me’. The first of the two had me hooked with its more synth driven verse and the oomph of ‘FEARLESS’ before the chorus. The second one had me hooked more in the simplistic riff that was utilised from start to finish and the rather melodic chorus. That and the heavier little breakdown near the end was a nice little treat as well.

PRESIDENT have definitely left their mark on the industry, and their music is a sign of a band that has bigger aims and a larger goal in mind as they move forward with their journey. 2026 could be an incredibly interesting year if the band are able to produce something even bigger than what was presented to us via this EP.
