Shoot To Kill return with “Infliction”, a track that doesn’t just hit hard — it goes straight for the jugular with a jagged blade. From the second the track kicks in you know that Shoot To Kill are not messing around with this one. With the debut Album titled ‘Heretic to Yourself’ set to release later in the year, if this track is anything to go by there is some serious potential in this album that’s left me excited to say the least.

Drawing influence from the likes of Bleed From Within and Sylosis, the band channel that same mix of precision riffing, tight drum work and channel brutal aggression in every release to date. The album 'Heretic to Yourself' follows on from their well‑received EP Torment, released back in April 2023 — so it’s been a minute since the band last dropped new material. The wait has definitely built some excitement.

The latest release "Inflictions" showcases their blend of tight, crushing riffs and high‑impact breakdowns, cementing their place as one of the UK’s rising metalcore forces and a band that should be on your radar for 2026. With five confirmed singles and a run of weekend tours lined up before and after release, the band are pushing hard to support the album from every angle. One thing that really stands out with this band is how proactive they are behind the scenes. They’re not just dropping music and hoping for the best — they’re constantly pushing, promoting, and putting the work in to get their name out there and it's starting to show.

The opening riff sets the tone straight away and continues to progress with hard-hitting energy that does no faulter at any moment through the track. “Infliction” hits that sweet spot between metalcore precision and deathcore brutality and they make it happen with playing that’s tight without ever feeling over-forced. The vocals come in with that classic deathcore vibe — deep, guttural lows and harsh, ripping highs that cut straight through the mix. Lyrically, the song digs into themes of inner conflict and self‑inflicted damage, delivering something raw, honest, and confrontational. It’s the sort of thing listeners can really latch onto, especially because the themes hit close to home for anyone who’s dealt with their own internal struggles. Life doesn’t always go easy, and there’s something genuinely cathartic about hearing someone else turn their personal struggles into music you can feel is genuine and has a certain emotional weight to it.

Having seen these guys live, the track feels like a perfect snapshot of the energy they bring to the stage, carrying that raw, unfiltered heaviness that makes their shows so fun to be part of even to the point of witnessing the live Pokemon card rip. How can you not get behind a performance which includes this...

I’ve got to hand it to them, the recording quality really lifts the track above and beyond. I've always said a good recording can make or break a release, and this track absolutely nails it.

The only negative that struck me whilst listening to this was that the ending felt more of a blunt forced cut off. Understandably if this is part of an album that jumps from track to track seamlessly this would make sense but as this can not be confirmed.

This track is a real standout, and it’s one that fans of Bleed From Within, Sylosis, Fit For An Autopsy, and Malevolence will absolutely get behind. So if these bands are your sort of jam, I'd highly recommend checking Shoot To Kill out and keep an eye on what's to come. There’s so much potential in what these guys are doing, and hopefully the audience catches on to it.

Overall, it’s a solid release, and I genuinely hope it gets the traction it deserves. I’m excited to see what’s next for Shoot to Kill and can’t wait for the album to drop in July.
