Bound To Prevail return with ‘Enthroned in Torment’ released January 7th, 2026 under Lethal Scissors Records. Bound To Prevail hail from Birkirkara, Malta and were formed in 2014. Giving how small Malta's underground scene is, this band is pushing boundaries showing what is possible with determination and grit. Blending technical proficiency with a crushing heaviness and delivering a sound that sits comfortably alongside modern death metal’s elite while retaining a distinct identity of their own. This is a band you definitely want on your radar for 2026.
Searching for a fresh addition to your 2026 playlists? You’ve just found it, this band have you covered.
From the opening seconds, the first track “The Nevergods” hits harder than a freight train in the cold winter months. With a clear production that echoes that of nostalgic death metal older releases the album carries a sense of re-imagination that stands strong alongside modern emerging acts. If you’re a fan of the ‘tinny’ blastbeats you’ll find yourself loving this release from the get go. There’s something special about a well‑produced piece that still reflects the charm and character of the genre’s earlier days and this release embodies that down to a T.
Other notable tracks on this album are “Into Depths”, “Atone in Blasphemy” and title-track “Enthroned in Torment”. The album has a play time of 39 minutes 29 seconds making it a good length to fit in between sorting out all that lovely tat you got for Christmas and putting down the Christmas decorations. I mean, let's face it... Christmas is now over... Time to get the bats and skeletons out in preparation for Halloween and what better way to do that than pairing it with some brutal technical death metal to get in the spirit. Okay, maybe it's a bit early for that (maaybbbeee).
Overall, this album lands with real force and delivers a listening experience I’d happily return to. This is a release that’s bound to hit home for anyone who gravitates toward the heavier side of metal and honestly a great start to 2026 with this release setting a high bar for those to follow. I feel this band would appeal to those who like other artists such as Nile, Decrepit Birth, Aborted, Cytotoxin and Beheaded.
With a growing international following and a reputation for tight, punishing live performances, Bound To Prevail are rapidly becoming a name to watch in the global extreme metal landscape. Bound To Prevail deliver Maltese brutality with precision sharp enough to rival the genre’s heaviest hitters and I can't wait to see how people perceive this album. Is it reinventing the wheel? No. Is it executed brilliantly? Absolutely. Does it deliver with precision? Without question. Given the opportunity and if you have the time too, this is exactly the kind of release you’ll want to launch your new year with a bang.
