On December 7th, 2025, Shadow Company unveiled their latest single, ‘Saturated Mind.’ ‘Saturated Mind’ follows on as the band’s next single after their release of ‘House of Moths’ released earlier in the year.

I do have to owe an apology for not getting this review out sooner; as the year closes and the festive season looms, I’ve finally found the time to give this track the attention it deserves. Christmas is that season when the to‑do list is endless, the music is plentiful, yet time is scarce. It's a bloody pain in the arse, that's what it is... a pain in the arse.

So... Who are Shadow Company?

Shadow Company are a four-piece metal band from Blackburn, Lancashire, England, blending thrash, heavy, doom, and groove influences. After doing well in their heats at Burnley’s Metal to the Masses 2025 it’s an exciting time for the band and I for one am I also excited to see where their journey will take them.

Saturated Minds’ draws clear influence from bands such as Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold leaning hard on what seems to be an older metalcore influence with lyrical alignment also to the style. The track feeds into a dark, emotionally intense exploration of inner turmoil, isolation, and despair. With lyrics drawing your ears to attention such as “Mother I have failed you” and “Father can you hear it” it gives an insight into feelings of letting loved ones down or being trapped in the inner thoughts of expectations from family values and society.

At 2 minutes 25 the track does take a turn drawing on the conventional rhythms and arrangements associated with classic doom metal tracks and this influence in the creative direction of this track shines through. The blending of genres is executed with striking clarity here and deserves solid praise for how well this was done. I appreciate the way the genres intertwine so seamlessly.

While the track is undeniably catchy and shows real potential, the recording quality undermines what could have been a phenomenal release. There’s an aspect of the production quality that doesn’t quite feel right to me. The quality feels like that of an old Avenged Sevenfold release or bands of that time (2000's) - think “unholy confessions” era, now is this a bad thing? Well… I’d say that’s subjective. Given their dues I’ve seen Shadow Company live at shows multiple times and find the recording fails to do justice to the performance and experience of their live shows.

Overall, this track stands as a strong release with clear potential, though the recording quality and overall feel hold it back from reaching the impact it could have achieved with higher production values. I’ll give credit where it’s due — the song grows on you with repeated listens, though it didn’t immediately strike me on first play. Despite a few drawbacks, this release is well-structured and thoughtfully composed, showcasing significant potential. And as for whether it will find its audience — absolutely. There’s no doubt it will resonate with a target audience and it will definitely find listeners. Shadow Company are clearly thriving at present and that's clear to see, it will be exciting to see where 2026 takes them.
