Lined with heavy riffs, huge hooks and pummeling breakdowns, CONTRASTS' grasp on modern, technical metalcore with False Idol is precise, firm and self-evident. Lead single "Ghost In My Head" only serves to bolster this notion, with a deeply infectious chorus and some truly belligerent riffing to contend with.

Beyond "Ghost In My Head", False Idol's air-tight four track run is an absolute barnburner, with tracks such as "The Space Between" (featuring Aaron Roberts of fellow Welsh act DE'LOUR) masterfully balancing the serenity and the chaos that sits at the core of CONTRASTS' dynamic and engaging sound.

Conversely, mid-EP cut "Armageddon" strips CONTRASTS' sound back to reveal the emotive heart of their sound, with its subdued allure eventually exploding into its gorgeous, enrapturing and otherworldly conclusion. With a truly dynamic, unique and unyielding grasp on modern tech metalcore, False Idol demonstrates wholly that CONTRASTS are certainly no one-trick pony; and a force to be reckoned with in the modern metal space.

The release of False Idol comes following a string of standalone singles from 2022 to 2025, with the band opting for an entirely fresh slate of killer new material with their debut EP. Recorded at Long Wave Studios (Bring Me The Horizon, Holding Absence, Nova Twins) and mixed/mastered by Tom Williams at Audio Peak Recordings, False Idol demonstrates CONTRASTS at their strongest, most technical, and self-assured yet.

CONTRASTS were formed in Cardiff during the throes of the pandemic in 2021, with the band quickly establishing a presence with their keen blend of hard-hitting riffs, enrapturing ambience and planetary choruses. The band quickly gained notoriety, and 2022 onward saw the Welsh unit share stages with such venerated acts as Whitechapel, Black Tongue, Funeral For A Friend, Hawthorne Heights and more.

The following years saw the band continue to build presence with a string of standalone singles such as "Release Me", "Oblivion" and "Disease", as well as a recent cover of Lady Gaga's chart-topping hit "Abracadabra" in late 2025. Now, with the band at their most self-assured yet, CONTRASTS are looking ahead to expand their presence in the live space across 2026, following the release of their debut EP, False Idol.
