Today, the post-emo band Ben Quad released their highly anticipated studio album Wisher via Pure Noise Records. Along with the release, they shared a heartfelt new music video for the standout track “All Your Luck.” Incorporating fan-submitted home videos playing on vintage televisions, this music video was made to capture the spirit of love and nostalgia that the song represents.

“The recording session for ‘Wisher’ was such a pivotal period of growth for this band. It felt like we were finally pushing ourselves outside of the typical emo mold. ‘All Your Luck’ is a good encapsulation of that experience,” shares guitarist Edgar Viveros. “We basically sat down at the studio and tried our best to channel the pop sensibility of artists we loved growing up - Third Eye Blind, Michelle Branch, Goo Goo Dolls, etc. It was a really nice change of pace writing something that was emotional, but not in a sad or angry way.”
Wisher serves as the follow-up to Ben Quad’s 2022 debut I’m Scared That’s All There Is. While the first record captured the uncertainty of youth and fear of the future, Wisher reflects a more hopeful perspective, with the title symbolising the part of ourselves that looks ahead to a better future. The new album feels like a response to the band’s earlier work, offering growth and optimism in place of doubt.
Singles off the record include the debut track “It’s Just a Title,” the cathartic song “Painless,” and most recently, “Very Big In Sheboygan.” All tracks deal with a variety of themes present throughout the album, including grief and loss, but also optimism for the future. “The overarching theme of this album is about accepting that pain and insecurity will follow us through the rest of our lives but that we can grasp on to the small moments that make life worthwhile,” adds Viveros.
Leaving the Sooner State for New Jersey, the band connected with producer Jon Markson (The Story So Far, Drug Church) to bring the album to life, taking up residence at his farm for their first real studio experience. Amidst barnyard animals and peaceful countryside, the idyllic setting provided the perfect backdrop – full of time and space – to find themselves and the next evolution of their sound.
Visually, Wisher is also the most intentional design the band has put out yet. The glitch effects imprinted over the album art signify their transition into using more electronic elements, while the fireworks and nostalgic photography serve to symbolize those short worthwhile moments that the central theme is based around.
Wisher is now available for physical purchase HERE.

“Overall, this record is the most confident we’ve ever been as songwriters,” Viveros continues. “There are moments where we venture into experimental and folky territory, but a good amount of the album is also us having fun and leaning into full pop-sensibility.”
