Glasgow’s rising heavy metal powerhouse crew ELD VARG are poised to unleash their formidable new album, Destroyer, on Friday, 14th November. Ahead of the full release, the band have dropped the album’s title track as a single — complete with an official video, watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfwDPUGuz6k , and listen to the band at: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3lsbNSWBZ3ozjrJDm14W8K .
Formed by guitarist and vocalist Ollie Noakes, ELD VARG began as a solo studio project before morphing into a full-throttle live act with drummer Andy Hedges and bassist Micah Snow joining the ranks. Since the release of their acclaimed 2023 debut One Man Army, the trio have forged a path through the UK metal underground with blistering live shows, landing support slots with metal stalwarts including Anvil, Florence Black, and Ye Banished Privateers, and making waves at festivals such as Wildfire and Call of the Wild.
Known for their crushing riffs, anthemic grooves, and lyrical odes to Norse mythology, ELD VARG have earned a reputation as a band to watch — hailed as the “discovery of the weekend” and “favourite band of the festival” during their headline appearance at the Winter Warmer Festival.
Their upcoming record Destroyer is a bold leap forward — darker, heavier, and more cohesive. “It was written during a period of uncertainty,” explains Noakes. “It explores pushing through hardship and moving forward when there’s no clear path. Layered with Viking imagery and meaning, the record carves out a stronger direction for the band.” With live dates on the horizon, ELD VARG are sharpening their blades for what promises to be their most unrelenting era yet.
