After a long anticipated wait since the release of “Homicidal Ectasy” back in 2023, Sanguisugabogg have released their third studio full length album to date entitled “Hideous Aftermath” under Century Media Records. This album is definitely one for the people who find solace in the embrace of drop G chaos and serenity in the guttural onslaught that is known and adored from brutal death metal. Did I ever think I’d be matching such “heavenly” words to that of a brutal death metal description? No - But here we are.

Sanguisugabogg hailing from Ohio, USA and formed back in 2019 have gone from strength to strength leaving a solid imprint within the more extreme music scene. Known for their relentless aggression and grotesque themes Sanguisugabogg focus hard on delivering visceral energy and breakdowns that hits harder than the opening theme to Eastenders.

Featuring 10 tracks and a run time of 47 minutes 32 seconds I would have to say that it’s a decent length of brutality featuring collaborations on the album from the likes of Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation), Todd Jones (Nails / Terror) and bands such as PeelingFlesh and Defeated Sanity. You find these days that a lot of bands are lacking a balance of what they bring to a release be this in track volume or album duration however I would happily comment that Sanguisugabogg hit the sweet spot with all of the prior.

Tracks on the album that I would like to highlight are ‘Semi-Automatic Facial Reconstruction (feat. Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation)’ and opening track ‘Rotted Entanglement’ which are ones that really stood out for me for both the depth and the nonstop audio battery which they forced during my listening time. I felt that these two tracks in particular left an impression on me and found myself adding these to my personal Spotify playlist afterwards.

Another track off the album that I feel that should get some credit is ‘Abhorrent Contraception (feat. Defeated Sanity / Josh Welshman)’. With its absolutely filthy riff carnage, vocal sludge, blast beats for days and its general titanic force that hits like a goat kick to the nads it makes its mark as another stand out track on the album. I do have to say I also love the fact with this video that there is a re-sample of the line “At the end of murdering all the people on Earth, I was going to murder my own family, and then take my own life and become God.” which was also previously used by Kill Everything in their 2018 video release for the track “Kill Everything”. It’s always good to see bands drawing and taking influence from others in a positive way.

The official release video for ‘Abhorrent Contraception (feat. Defeated Sanity / Josh Welshman)’ can be found on the Official Sanguisugabogg youtube > here SANGUISUGABOGG - Abhorrent Contraception (Feat. Josh Welshman of Defeated Sanity) (OFFICIAL VIDEO) <

Overall I would have to say that ‘Hideous Aftermath’ is an album that presents the skills and pure genius in creativity that Sanguisugabogg brings to the table and gives justification of why they are taking the extreme metal scene, and general music scene by storm. The album showcases what they are truly capable of whilst also showing a clear evolution direction of a more refined and unforgiving guttural tsunami that the fanbase love to hear. If you can I would highly suggest taking some time out and giving the album a full listen in all it’s glory and even more so if you enjoy what you hear be sure to check them out on their European tour in 2026 - Sanguisugabogg will be hitting the UK between the 15th - 19th February 2026 joined by Fulci, Gates to Hell and Celestial Sanctuary bringing some of the best upcoming slam, death and grind bands. It’s a great line up and one not to be missed.
