One thing I love about dabbling in most parts of the music community is that whilst discussing a different line of business, I’ll come across a band that I’ve not heard before. In this case, I got to discover Pale Covenant.

Slapping me in the face with their latest track ‘Drown Beneath The Tide’ was a great introduction to the band, especially considering its metalcore vibes. And those that know me know I do love me a good bit of metalcore goodness.

What stands out for me in this track is the blend of crushing heaviness and haunting melodies, switching between the two styles flawlessly whilst maintaining the power and gusto to keep the track flowing smoothly. Giving off Bring Me The Horizon meets Motionless In White vibes, Pale Covenant are able to create a modern metalcore track that has some 00s vibes as well. You can feel the emotions in not just the music but the lyrics as well, showing that the band are reaching deep into their own feelings to present a song that has a strong level of passion sat behind it.

The overall balance of heavy and melodic mirrors both the theme of the song as well as the artwork of the track, showing a boat at sea in stormy waters and rising waves. Whilst at sea, you face yourself battle overwhelming odds whilst pushing yourself  to find the strength to rise back up and defeat those odds. Once again, this is a band that are able to combine both visual auditory means to convey the message they are trying to share with their fans.

It'll be interesting to see where Pale Covenant go from here. ‘Drown Beneath The Tide’ was an incredible introductory track to their music and will definitely be one to keep an eye on if you want that gut wrenching, mosh-pit inducing heavy goodness in your daily cycle.
