Released 20th October 2025 under Dreadhead Records, hailing from Yorkshire Pulverise released their newest track “Deadstock”. Pulverise’s current line up consists of band members JoJo Millward (Vocals), Darren Johnson (Bass), Tom Fay (Guitar) and Vicky Reader (Drums). Pulverise have been witnessed to share the stage with acts such as Bloodywood, (hed) PE, Crazytown and have played festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air Festival, Breaking Bands alongside being on charity event line ups for great causes such as the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
Blending nu-metal with elements of old school New York hardcore the track brings a wake-up call aimed at a world drowning in noise, distraction, division and gives some food for thought that prompts a rethink for listeners to think for themselves and resist being led blindly, like “moths to a flame”.
The track is tight and could only be described as the soundtrack to your last nerve snapping—loud, loaded, with an on point genre-bending sound and lyrical fire. I’ll be honest, this for me was a different sort of listening experience… is it my preferred genre or go to genre when listening to music? No but honestly I really enjoyed it and although I didn't think I would personally vibe with it, I found myself nodding along and having a “rayte good bop” before I realised what I was actually doing. The energy throughout this track was infectious and the message raw and conviction woven between every drum beat and rhyme.
Rap metal riffs? You gottem! Like a sharp PG tips brew spiked with Carolina Reaper hot sauce, it burns, it bites, and it bloody well wakes you up. Pulverise don’t just play hard hitting riffs —they bottle it, brand it, and dare you to taste it... Now there is a reason I’ve made this comparison which leads into something unique the band have done which I find bloody brilliant. In ode to the release of the single “Deadstock” they have also released a limited edition "Deadstock" hot sauce… If you wish to actually tingle your tastebuds whilst listening to a track you can purchase the hot sauce from their official merch store. (I’d like to make the standard disclaimer in social media, this is not a paid ad. I just find it absolutely magnificent that this is the sort of merch they have chosen to release in conjunction with the track release. I love that sort of out of the box thinking, what a fabulous idea!)
Overall, the track in my opinion was a solid release and as mentioned above although it wouldn't usually be my go to with music in terms of what I'd seek out - It was a great auditory experience. Pulverise are a band I wouldn't sleep on going forward and in all openness I'm super stoked to see what the guys get up to!
