Neo Cryptid has once again proven why he’s becoming a fast-rising star in not just his local scene but across the UK. The EP is a perfect testament to a musician who’s here for a good time.

What happens when you leave the happiest man in metal in a room with just a guitar and his chaotic thoughts? You get an EP that full of chaos, mayhem and some tasty little musical numbers.

This time, we find ourselves revisiting our ‘cool cousin of metal’ that is Neo Cryptid who has delivered a belter of an EP after teasing us earlier in the year. When I reviewed earlier track ‘Immolate Me, I was blown away by how one man was able to put so much energy into one track. Now he’s only gone and down it again…this time over 5 tracks of…well, how else can I put it?...Chaos perhaps?

Opening with ‘Raveyard’, you’re thrown into a new age of industrial metal as Neo Cryptid throws you into his world instantly. There’s no steady build up, there’s no time to quote Samuel Jackson’s ‘hold onto your butts’ from the 1993 cult classic Jurassic Park. Nope. Neo Cryptid doesn’t have time for that. He wants to take you on a journey and he’s ready to go.

Each track has something different to offer. No two tracks sound the same and you can feel a vibe of influences throughout whilst this is still Neo Cryptid’s own taste on the genre. One minute, you think you’re listening to Combichrist. The next, you’re thrown into Rammstein. All flawlessly may I add. Throw in some guest appearances from Elkapath, Neon Oracle, Bronam and Felicia in two of the tracks, Neo Cryptid has once again proven why he’s becoming a fast-rising star in not just his local scene but across the UK. The EP is a perfect testament to a musician who’s here for a good time.

The only gripe I have with this EP? Its 22-minute runtime. Just when you’re ready to have a mosh pit in the raveyard, it’s over. But that’s also a good thing, as it’ll leave you wanting more and guarantees another spin or 10 of the EP. That, or tracking Neo Cryptid down at one of his upcoming shows (like say…Shadow Fest in Bradford? Yes, yes. I did another plug, but it’s a banging line-up to be fair. You’d be daft not to hit it up).

As always, I like to try and pick a standout track with EPs and albums. Whilst ‘Immolate Me’ still wows and impresses me to this day, ‘Agent of Chaos’ just wows me in its entirety. So, the task of picking just one of the 5 tracks as a standout isn’t going to happen because all 5 tracks are just *chef’s kiss* in this moderate mind of mine. Hats off to you once again Neo Cryptid!
