‘‘Boy oh boy, let’s see what we chaotic metal noises we have in our inbox today!’ I say, mustering up my best Mickey Mouse voice whilst I do so. This time, I get to revisit those lush Leeds-ian folk Godeth who have teased me with a tasty new track titled ‘Leeches’.

The track starts with a eerie guitar riff and drum beat the reminds me of self-titled days Slipknot (which sits well with the song title as that for me gave the same sort of vibes), all before we given a dirty little bass drop that leads into a thunderous assault on the ears from the full band. What follows is an amalgamation of grotesque hooks, filthy vocals and breakdowns that make you think Gojira and Fit for an Autopsy had a baby that knew how to throw down in the pit from the moment it could walk.

What we have here is simply another testament as to why Godeth are a continuous rising force in the underground’s melo-death scene. It reflects that this is a band that is steadily evolving their sound whilst still retaining what made them loved by fans from the first note they played together.

One part that really hooks you is the end breakdown, leading from a spoken few lines before that bass slide comes in and hits you with one final heavy hitting riff before the track rings to its end. For those that love a nice brutal end to a song, this will definitely tick the boxes for you whether its via your favourite streaming platforms or during one of Godeth’s monstrous live performances.

In the words of frontman Miles;
‘We wanted this track to feel claustrophobic and relentless, both musically and thematically’
Trust me lads, this track reflects that perfectly. It also reflects the themes of anger and frustration just as well, as you can feel the tension within the band’s playing from start to finish as they wrap the audience into their little cocoon of chaos. A tension that the band aim to crush with a song as heavy as this
